Louisburg College is excited to announce Lynwood Roberson as the new Vice President of Institutional Advancement!

After a rigorous search and interview process, the College decided that Roberson would be the best fit for the role.

Hailing from Nash County, North Carolina, Roberson holds a degree in Justice and Public Policy from North Carolina Wesleyan University. He has spent most of his professional career working in public policy, fundraising, and outreach. 

Roberson began his career in fundraising at the Boys and Girls Club of Rocky Mount, a decision that led him down the path of nonprofit work. In 2003, Roberson worked with the American Red Cross in Rocky Mount, where he helped expand the local branch to become a regional Red Cross. He has a background in higher educational work through his six years at Edgecombe Community College, where he and his team built relationships with life-long donors and doubled the institution’s endowment.

Roberson’s approach to fundraising, outreach, and nonprofiteering is simple - it’s all about communication.

“Fundraising is all about relationships,” Roberson says. “If you get out in the community and you’ve got a good mission and you build trust, people will support your cause. And that’s what we have here at Louisburg.”

Roberson’s addition to the College comes as a full circle moment. His sister, Terri Roberson-Gurganus, attended Louisburg College. She passed away in 2023, but Roberson hopes to honor her memory and legacy through his work. His vision for the College reflects that of his own personal connection and that of the President’s - to support students, families, and the campus and Louisburg community.

“I think the President has a strong vision for the College and the things he wants to do,” Roberson says. “I’m excited about this opportunity. I think there’s a lot of progress we can make and a lot of things we can do to make the experience even better.”

Roberson began his role on August 3, 2026.
