FAFSA
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the form you need to fill out to receive federal or state financial aid to help pay for college. The priority deadline for submission is March 1. The earlier you submit your FAFSA application, the more money you may receive. Louisburg College’s federal school code is 002943.
Click here to find out more information about filling out the FAFSA. You can also use the FAFSA4Caster to estimate your eligibility for federal student aid.
If you are a dependent student, you and your parents will fill out the FAFSA form together. Please discuss your dependency status questions with our Financial Services Office by calling (919) 497-3272. After the Federal Processing Center receives your application, they will send the results to you and all of the colleges designated on your form.
Expected Family Contribution
The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is a measure of your family’s financial strength calculated according to a formula established by law and expressed as a number equivalent to a dollar amount. Colleges subtract your EFC from their budgeted cost of attendance to determine your financial need. Your EFC remains the same wherever you attend college. However, because each institution’s cost of attendance varies, your financial need amount will vary by institution.
Financial Aid Package
Colleges bundle financial aid to meet a percentage of your calculated need. It takes two to four weeks to process your information. After packaging together the various scholarships and financial aid for which you qualify, the Financial Services Office will send an award letter indicating your aid package. Your financial aid package may include:
- Federal Need-Based Aid including Federal Work-Study
- Loans
- State grants
- Louisburg College Scholarships or Grants
- Other outside scholarships awarded or for which you have applied
Award Letter
After you receive your financial aid award letter and package, you may accept or decline any component. Cross through any element you do not want, sign your letter, and return it to the Financial Services Office. Then submit your $200.00 deposit to the Office of Admissions to secure your aid package and your spot at Louisburg College.
If you need additional assistance with financing your education, have questions about the aid process, or have special circumstances that affect the application process, be sure to contact the Financial Services Office. We are here to help!
