Larrell Murchison, Louisburg College's All-American football player, signed a contract today to play for N.C. State.
Murchison, defensive end and a team captain for the 2016 undefeated Hurricanes, had several offers from colleges in the Southeastern Conference, the ACC and the Big 12 but chose the Wolfpack, two hours from his home in Elizabethtown.
After graduating from Louisburg College in May, he plans to enroll at NCSU, where he'll play his final two years.
Murchison, 19, signed the letter of intent, donned an N.C. State ballcap and thanked Wolfpack coaches for the opportunity. An hour later, he and his twin brother, Farrell, were among 127 honored as Louisburg College scholar-athletes.
Murchison's full scholarship to play for a Division 1 school is the first for Louisburg College, which started its football program only 11 years ago. In December, Murchison was rated as the nation's No. 10 strong-side junior college defensive end. He led on the field and in the classroom, earning a 3.3 GPA.
"To have such a quality individual -- an athlete, student and human being -- representing Louisburg College here in our home state is a tremendous honor," said Head Coach Trevor Highfield. "This is the first in a line of many."
