Larrell Murchison, defensive end and a captain for the undefeated 2016 Hurricanes football team, is being courted heavily by prestigious Division 1 football schools. Murchison, a sophomore, has offers from Ole Miss, the University of Texas and the University of Georgia, and coaches from the University of Louisville -- including Bobby Petrino -- were in Louisburg Wednesday.
Murchison, named NJCAA All-American in December, initially said he would attend the University of Mississippi. However, signing day isn't until Feb. 1, and Athens, Ga., is driving distance from Elizabethtown, N.C., his hometown.
The honor roll student, roundly respected by students and faculty, has visited Georgia and Texas and anticipates one more official visit this weekend before deciding where he'll play the rest of his college career.
USA Today has written about him. He's made the news in every town he's visited. From the University of Georgia: "'Big Murch' is rated as the nation’s No. 10 strong-side junior college defensive end and the No. 86 overall JUCO player for 2017." Stay tuned.
