canes logo DANVILLE, IL - The Louisburg College men's basketball team suffered an 88-86 loss in the opening round of the 2013 NJCAA National Championship Tournament, Tuesday evening. The #3 seeded Hurricanes jumped out to an early lead that slipped away as the #14 Scouts pulled away, extending their lead to 14 points and a 46-32 lead at the break.

'Canes guard Kevin Williams (Franklinton, NC/Franklinton HS) led all scorers with a 26 point effort as he shot 8-17 from the field, including a 5-10 performance from three point range. LaShawn Alexander (Norfolk, VA/Booker T. Washington HS) also had a very impressive effort as he earned a double-double, scoring 14 points and swiping 15 boards.

Antonio Robinson (Winston Salem, NC/Parkland HS) and Paul Stone (Danville, VA/Dan River HS) put in double-digit efforts as they each helped out with 12 points in the loss.

Louisburg will continue with play at the championship tournament as they will now compete for a possible 7th place finish among the 16 teams, in the single elimination consolation bracket. LC's next game will be on Thursday when they take on Essex County College (New Jersey) at noon local time.
