Mike Boddie, president of restaurant operations at Boddie-Noell Enterprises, Inc., and chair of the Louisburg College Board of Trustees, received the College’s Presidential Medal during the spring trustees meeting. During that meeting April 20, trustees also named the board room of Main Building after Dr. Mark La Branche, president, who is leaving after more than eight years to lead Martin Methodist College in Tennessee.
The Presidential Medal is awarded at the discretion of the president. Boddie of Rocky Mount, a Louisburg College alumnus, graduate of East Carolina University, and trustee chair since 2012, leaves the board this month as his term expires.
Dr. La Branche was honored for his service since 2009, including his work improving the college and overseeing the reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. He has been a generous benefactor, donating more than $120,000 to the College during his tenure and leading a capital campaign that raised more than $18 million. He and his wife, Mona, also have been active in the life of the town of Louisburg.
