Louisburg College Exceeds
$15M Campaign Goal

Trustees Decide to Increase By $3 Million

LOUISBURG, N.C.-As a result of robust fundraising efforts, Louisburg College's campaign goal of $15 million has been reached two years before its target date; the College's board of trustees responded at last month's quarterly meeting by voting to increase the goal to $18 million. The Great Futures Campaign ending date will remain at December 2015.

"We are very pleased with the success of our Great Futures Campaign," says College President Mark La Branche. "The dollars raised have been crucial to the College's resurgence, and we're confident that the positive momentum that has been established will carry us beyond our new goal. We're grateful to the entire Louisburg College family for their generous response."

This ambitious, comprehensive fundraising campaign was announced at the College's 225th anniversary gala in September 2012. The campaign has since supported many construction projects, including the preservation of historic campus buildings and grounds. In addition, new scholarship endowments created through the campaign are helping Louisburg College attract talented athletes, musicians, and honors students. Finally, estate and planned gifts account for almost half of all gifts and pledges to the campaign, building a pipeline of future funding for the institution.

The $3M increase in Louisburg College's campaign goal will help fund projects like the renovation of the Ray Hodges Fine Arts Complex, including the addition of a 2,100-square-foot visual arts studio.

The $3 million campaign goal increase will help the College support three new projects: the conversion of the "Old Coal Plant" building to a state-of-the-art fitness center and football locker room; the renovation of the Jordan Student Center (including Duke Dining Center); and major improvements to the Ray Hodges Fine Arts Complex, including a renovation of the music wing and the addition of a 2,100-square-foot visual arts studio.

"Our fundraising has doubled in the past five years, thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Louisburg College alumni and friends," notes Kurt Carlson, Vice President for Institutional Advancement.
