Louisburg College Recognized with Top Honors at PBL National Conference

Student Innovators Hail From Cary & Fairfax

PBL 2013

LOUISBURG, NC - Louisburg College is pleased to announce that four students were Top 10 finalists at the 2013 Future Business Leaders of America - Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) National Leadership Conference, held June 22-25 in Anaheim, California.

Abdul Caesar '13 and Kyle May '14, both of Cary, North Carolina won Fifth Place in the Integrated Marketing Campaign category. Abdul, the son of Alnisa Caesar, will be attending UNC-Chapel Hill as an economics major in the fall. Kyle, the son of Daryl and Kathryn May, was given Louisburg College's 2012-13 Outstanding PBL Member Award and plans to study marketing at NC State University.

Twin brothers John '13 and Joe '13 McGillicudy of Fairfax, Virginia earned Ninth Place in the category of Emerging Business Issues. The sons of Bernie and Hugh McGillicudy, both brothers excelled as scholar athletes on Louisburg College's baseball team. Starting this fall, John will pursue an international business degree at High Point University, while Joe will study finance at Elon University.

During the national competition, Louisburg College students competed against such schools as the University of California-San Diego, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Missouri Southern State, Northern Kentucky University, and Southern Utah University. The finalists of these highly competitive events were selected from among FBLA-PBL's membership of 250,000 students and advisors, and represent some of the best and brightest of today's youth.

Phi Beta Lambda is the largest and oldest student organization in the world, with a mission of preparing students for a future in business-related fields through innovative leadership and career development. Students must first place at the state competitions in order to compete at the national level.
