Louisburg College Board Chair Michael Boddie to Deliver Commencement Address

Boddie Louisburg College Board of Trustees chairman Michael Boddie will deliver the 2013 Commencement Address on May 3.

LOUISBURG, NC - Louisburg College is pleased to announce that Michael Boddie, Chair of the Louisburg College Board of Trustees, will deliver this year's commencement address on Friday May 3, 2013, at 5:00pm in the Frances Boyette Dickson Auditorium of the Seby B. Jones Performing Arts Center (JPAC). He will speak on the topic, "Believing in People."

A native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Boddie is a 1977 graduate of Louisburg College and a 1979 graduate of East Carolina University. He is president of restaurant operations at Boddie-Noell Enterprises, Inc., and has served on the Executive Committee and Board of Deacons at First Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Providence Bank.

On graduation day, the College will host a special Graduates' Breakfast at 9:00am in the Duke Dining Center, followed by the commencement rehearsal at 10:30am in the Seby B. Jones Performing Arts Center. Graduates will gather for a formal portrait in front of the JPAC following the commencement rehearsal and the issuing of caps and gowns.

In honor of the 2013 graduating class, the College's Office of Spiritual Life will hold a Baccalaureate Service at Louisburg Methodist Church on Friday at 3:00pm. Reverend Randy Innes, Superintendent of the Heritage District, North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, will deliver the sermon. Music will be provided by Louisburg Methodist Church pianist (and College staff member) Phyllis Ihrie, organist Alan Davis, and Louisburg College Instructor of Music Angela Adkins.

Graduates will meet in front of Main Building at 4:00pm to line up for the procession. (Faculty, staff, and members of the stage party will gather in the Main Lobby at 4:30pm.) The group will be led by bagpiper Bruce C. Wright as they walk from the steps of Main across campus to the JPAC. Commencement will begin at 5:00pm, with a reception immediately following in the JPAC's Holt Lobby.
