Media Services
The Audiovisual Center (497-3253), located in the lower level of the Cecil W. Robbins Library, supports the academic program of the college by providing media resources and services to students, faculty, administration and staff. The entrance to the Audiovisual Center is on the north end of the library porch. The hours are posted on the door.
The AV Center houses the library’s collection of videocassettes, videodiscs, and a variety of instructional equipment. Services include circulation of materials, delivery of equipment, assistance with equipment, interlibrary loan of videos from the State Library, video and cassette tape duplication, scanning services, and use of AV Auditorium.
Circulation of videos and videodiscs
Students may check out videos for two days; overdue fines are $3.00 per day.
Replacement cost plus a $10 processing fee is charged for lost videos.
Faculty may check out videos for a longer period of time but are required to return all videos to the AV Center at the end of each semester.
Equipment
Faculty and staff
The following general instructional equipment is available and can be delivered to the classroom; VCR and monitor on a cart, overhead projectors, portable screens, slide projectors, and flip charts.
Patrons may reserve equipment in advance by calling the AV Center; equipment will be delivered to the specified location if equipment reservations are made three days ahead of time. When equipment is available, it may be picked up directly from the AV Center without being reserved; however, equipment cannot be delivered unless reserved in advance. .
Digital cameras, VHS camcorders, and a LCD projector are also available through the Audiovisual Center. These items may be reserved but must be picked up and returned by the faculty member as a financial responsibility form must be signed.
Faculty may check out general instructional equipment for an extended period of time if there are no other requests for it. All equipment must be returned to the library at the end of each academic year. The use period for digital cameras and VHS camcorders is three days.
Students
Any student who wishes to reserve audiovisual equipment for a class may do so with authorization from a faculty or staff member, either by phone call or with a written authorization. The equipment that students may check out consists of slide projectors and overhead projectors. Students must pick up equipment immediately prior to class and return equipment immediately after class. The overdue fines for late equipment are $5.00 per day.
Interlibrary Loan of videos from State Library
The State Library maintains a diverse collection of films, videocassettes, and slides that are available for loan on a planned schedule to faculty at institutions of higher education.
Videos must be reserved in advance by calling the Audiovisual Center at 497-3253 with information on titles and dates needed. Faculty may search the State Library Catalog at State Library catalog. It usually takes one week from date of order to receive materials. Videos may be borrowed for a maximum of ten days and can be renewed if necessary.
Use of Audiovisual Auditorium
The AV Auditorium is equipped for individual or group use to view videos. Please call the AV Center 24 hours in advance to ensure that space is available. Faculty members are asked to remain with their class in the AV Auditorium.
