Presidential Search

The Board of Trustees and the Presidential Search Committee of the oldest church-related, residential, coed, two-year college in the nation invite nominations and applications for the position of president. The new president will assume office in
January 2009.

Chartered as Franklin Male Academy in 1787, Louisburg College is affiliated with The
United Methodist Church and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools. Its 75-acre campus is located in Louisburg, North Carolina, approximately 35
miles north of the capital, Raleigh. The College’s mission is intentionally preparatory as
it seeks to “ . . . provide a bridge for students to make a successful transition from high
school to senior colleges and universities.” The average enrollment at Louisburg College
is more than 700 students, and approximately 90% of its graduates go on to four-year
institutions. Total full-time and part-time faculty is 68.

The College offers three associate degree programs and provides exceptional academic
support services for all students, as well as specialized assistance programs for those with documented learning disabilities. The athletic opportunities available for men and women continue the long tradition of excellence in athletic competition.

The new president must be committed to the mission of Louisburg College and be a
highly motivated, energetic leader whose objective is to sustain Louisburg as the premier
private, residential, two-year college in the Eastern United States. The president must
be knowledgeable about and understanding of the issues surrounding private two-year
colleges. The president must be an experienced administrator and a strategic thinker who
is financially astute. The president must possess all the personal and professional qualities required to be a productive fund-raiser.
