Foth Named Interim President at Louisburg College

April 22, 2008 -- On Monday, April 21, the Louisburg College board of trustees named Dr. Rodney Foth as interim president. Foth was named to his current position at the college, executive vice president and vice president for academic life, in 2001.

Foth came to Louisburg from Iowa where he served as the associate dean for academic affairs at the University of Dubuque (1997-2001). He began work at Dubuque in 1989 as assistant professor of biology. He was promoted to professor of biology and received tenure at Dubuque 1996, and he also received the Lomax Award for Exemplary Teaching and Advising. Prior to his arrival at Dubuque, he served as instructor of biology at Virginia State University (1979-1983) and Ball State University (1978-1979), and he was an adjunct professor at Indiana University East (1977-1979).

Foth completed his undergraduate degree at Anderson University in Indiana, and then earned the degrees Master of Arts in physiology and Doctor of Education in biology with a minor in higher education and physiology from Ball State University. His dissertation was titled, "Correlation of Central Nervous System Disorders and Alpha-1-Antitrypsin Deficiency."

Dr. John Cameron, chairman of the Louisburg College board of trustees, says the board is pleased that Foth is available to fill the interim role of president of Louisburg College during a time of challenge and opportunities.

"His seven-year tenure at the College provides us with much-needed continuity and stability as we deal with SACS financial oversight issues and the management of day-to-day operations at the end of this school year," Cameron said. "The board of trustees will move expediently to establish another presidential search committee whose work will begin immediately."
