With the help of Gordy, the Wildcats produced two All-Conference players, and finished fourth in the Northern Sun Conference. Under Gordy’s hitting instruction, the ‘Cats shattered the previous homerun record of 13 by hitting 30 homeruns. Gordy also helped the team reach other offensive and defensive records while at Wayne State College. Prior to coaching at the collegiate level, Gordy was the associate head coach of the Delmarva Rebels U-14 travel team of Salisbury, Maryland from 2004-2006.

At Tech, Gordy was a four-year starter, team captain, and SAAC representative for the softball team. Gordy was named to the 2004 Sunshine State All-Conference Team and recognized as the 2004 Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year.
