On April 14, 2007,
the Lady Canes defeated
USC-Salkehatchie 10-0, allowing Coach Gines to earn his 600th career victory.
For this career milestone, Coach Gines was recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and was honored by receiving their prestigious
Easton Victory Club award. |
Head Coach Donn Gines believes that winning is important, but it is not the most important thing in coaching. Coach Gines wants his players to enjoy the game while working hard. It is his belief that it is important for players to develop a strong work ethic in order to reach their full potential. It is the intention of Coach Gines and his staff to foster an atmosphere where the student-athletes discover that athletic happiness boosts their performance at school, work, and play. Coach Gines hopes that each of his student-athletes will learn to appreciate the benefits of socialization, sportsmanship, personal achievement, and team spirit achieved through athletic activities. It is his goal that each player will have a positive learning experience that will be useful to them in their future careers and family life choices.
