2007-2008 Hurricane Men's Golf
The Hurricanes Start Strong : Congratulations to our Men's Golf team who recently competed in two tournaments and finished with outstanding results. October 12th the team traveled to South Carolina to compete in the USC-Lancaster Challenge and placed second. The following weekend, October 21-22, they hosted the Louisburg Iron Team Clash where they took home the top honors in both the Medal Play Tournament and the Modified Stableford Championship.
2007 NJCAA Division III Men's National Championship
On June 8, the Louisburg College men’s golf team finished the 2007 NJCAA Division III Men’s National Championship Golf Tournament in fourth place, only 13 strokes short of first place. After leading the tournament through the half way point, the Louisburg College golfers scored a 317 in the third round to move into fourth place. The 299 total for the fourth round gave them a 1224 total for the championship. Louisburg golfer, Jose Gutierrez, scored a 6 over par 294 to tie for first place after 72 holes. However, Gutierrez won the medalist honors in a 5-hole sudden death playoff.
Congratulations to our five sophomore golfers who graduated from Louisburg College in May and have decideed to play golf at their selected senior colleges.

2007 Region X Tournament Champions:
The Louisburg College men’s golf team finished it regular season with its fourth straight championship in the Region X Division III Golf Tournament on April 21-22. Louisburg posted a 298 followed by a 297 on Sunday for a 595 total. Sophomore Matthew Montford of Louisburg College and Wallace, North Carolina paced the team to victory with a 1 under par total of 143 for the 36-hole event at the Siler City Country Club course in Siler City, North Carolina. Drew Walters from USC-Lancaster posted a 148 total for 2 nd place, followed closely by Louisburg College golfers, Jose Gutierrez in third place with 150, Corey Brown and Josue’ Garza tied for fourth place with 151, and Ben Davis tied for 8 th place with a 163.
Louisburg College and USC-Lancaster both qualify to participate in the 72-hole NJCAA Division III National Golf Championship Tournament to be played at Lake Chautauqua, New York for June
4-8. Louisburg College is currently ranked by GolfStat as the #1 NJCAA Division III team in the nation. As the NJCAA Division III runner-up in the 2006 National Golf Championship Tournament, Coach Charles Sloan indicated that the team is anchored by 3 sophomores with National Tournament experience. Josue’ Garza, 2006 First Team All-American, and Corey Brown, 2006 Second Team All-American, will again lead the team into the competition for the National Championship at Lake Chautauqua, New York.
