In order to provide plenty of opportunities for players to train and develop their skills in a competitve environment, the men's soccer program has a reserve team game schedule. This important aspect of the program is in its third year and has proved to be an effective avenue for helping players improve in practice as well as during games. During the fall of 2005, eight reserve players made several appearances for the varsity squad in addition to playing on the reserve squad. Several of these players (Nana Agyeman, Edwin Zelaya, Richard Huezo and Paulino Lazo) played regularly with the varsity team after showing considerable developments both technically and tactically.
