Sophomore Captain Janny Rivera has accepted an offer from the University of South Carolina to officially become a Gamecock.  Rivera came to Louisburg College after spending four years at IMG Academy during his prep career, and led the Hurricanes to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament during the 2009 season.  As a mid-fielder / defensive player, Rivera has been recognized for his achievements by being named in 2009 to the NSCAA / NJCAA First Team All-South and as a NJCAA First Team All-American.  As a student-athlete, he was successful off the field as well.  Rivera was named as a Lee-Fowler Scholar Student-Athlete for achieving above a 3.0 grade-point average.  Hurricanes Head Coach Dave Sexton is pleased with Rivera’s decision and is confident he will succeed academically and athletically.
