Janny Rivera Signs With The Gamecocks
Sophomore Captain Janny Rivera has accepted an offer from the University of South Carolina to officially become a Gamecock. Rivera came to Louisburg College after spending four years at IMG Academy during his prep career, and led the Hurricanes to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament during the 2009 season. As a mid-fielder / defensive player, Rivera has been recognized for his achievements by being named in 2009 to the NSCAA / NJCAA First Team All-South and as a NJCAA First Team
All-American. As a student-athlete, he was successful off the field as well. Rivera was named as a Lee-Fowler Scholar Student-Athlete for achieving above a 3.0 grade-point average. Hurricanes Head Coach Dave Sexton is pleased with Rivera’s decision and is confident he will succeed academically and athletically.
Louisburg Earns 4th Place In NJCAA National Tournament - Nov. 22, 2009
Louisburg finished the season with a 4th place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament, with a 3-0 loss to Schoolcraft College.

Canes Defeated By #1 Ranked Tyler Junior College - Nov. 20, 2009
After a long and heartfelt fight, the Hurricanes were defeated by #1 ranked Tyler Community College. Unable to find an opening to the goal, the Canes came up short, 1-3.
The Canes will continue their journey as they work to capture the third place trophy. The next game is Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. against #3 ranked Schoolcraft College.
Hurricanes Win National Tournament Quarter-Finals Nov. 19, 2009
Congratulations to our Men’s Soccer Team! This afternoon, the Hurricanes defeated Yavapai College 3-1. The will now move into the semi-finals of the NJCAA National Championship Tournament.
Tomorrow, the Canes will take on #1 Tyler Junior College at 2:30 p.m.
Hurricanes Advance To 2009 NJCAA National Tournament Championship
Congratulation to the Men’s Soccer Team for winning the NJCAA Mid-Atlantic Districts. The Canes went into the District round ranked 6th in the country by the NJCAA National Poll. The Canes dominated CCBC-Essex, giving up only one goal. They defeated the Knights 4-1, bringing their season record to (17-2-1). They will now advance to the NJCAA National Tournament, November 19-22, 2009. The NJCAA DI Men’s Soccer National Championship will be held at Mercer County Community College in West Windsor, New Jersey.

Hurricanes Win 2009 Region X Tournament
The (#1) Canes defeated (#3) Spartanburg Methodist College, 7-0 in the final round of tournament play on Wednesday, November 4th, 2009. As the 2009 Region X Champs, they qualify to advance to the District round of competition.
Districts will be held at Louisburg College this Saturday, November 7th, 2009 against Region XX champs CCBC-Essex of Maryland. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

LC Standout Signs with George Mason University!
Victor Freeman will continue his soccer career when he takes the field next year at George Mason University. Freeman, a starting forward for Louisburg College, contirbuted 42 goals and 26 assists in two seasons.

Soccer Volunteers: Community Fun Day!
The Louisburg College men's and women's soccer teams held a free soccer clinic at Joyner Park on Saturday, November 22, 2008. This was the second annual LC Soccer Clinic. With over sixty community youngsters participating, LC players and coaches stayed busy teaching techniques and running drills.
