Men's Cross Country Coach
Head Coach Aaron Denton
On March 22, 2007 Louisburg College named Aaron Denton its head men’s and women’s cross country coach. Coach Denton is a graduate of Guilford College in Greensboro, NC, where he ran track. “I am excited about the possibilities for success in both men’s and women’s cross country here at Louisburg. Athletics at Louisburg College have such a rich tradition, that we look forward to building that tradition further as we build the relatively new running programs.”
Coach Aaron Denton, originally from nearby Bunn, NC, attended Bunn high school where he competed in track (hurdles, 4X3200 relay, and other events), basketball, football and baseball. He continued his athletic career at Guilford College where he competed at the collegiate level in track, basketball, football and lacrosse. Coach Denton has coached various college sports including football and basketball. He currently also serves as the head men’s basketball coach at Louisburg. The men’s basketball team recently completed a very successful first year under coach Denton. He holds an MBA from UNC Greensboro. Coach Denton is single and resides in nearby Pilot, NC.
Assistant Coach Maurice Simmons
Maurice Simmons will assist with both the men’s and women’s cross country programs this upcoming season. Coach Simmons brings a wealth of athletic and organizational experience.
Maurice Simmons is a graduate a South Columbus high school (Tabor City, NC) and Barber-Scotia College (Concord, NC). While at Barber-Scotia Simmons assisted the athletic department as well as specific sports with organizing practices, weight workouts and travel arrangements. Coach Simmons furthered his education at Hardin-Simmons University (Abiline, TX) where he obtained his Masters in Sports Management.
