Mission Statement

The Mathematics Department at Louisburg College is dedicated to maintaining an avenue for students to seek assistance from faculty members outside of class and beyond regular office hours. The Math Lab provides a nurturing environment that encourages questions and dialogue among instructors and students. This exchange supports students as they become active learners, helps build their confidence in the subject matter and fosters a bridge to success in future math courses at their senior institutions.

  • To provide a positive, caring, supportive, and encouraging academic environment for student learning
  • To provide assistance to students who have difficulty with classroom activities or need help with homework assignments

The Math Lab is currently staffed by the full-time members of the Mathematics department as well as students in advanced Mathematics courses. Solution manuals, extra textbooks, reference material, videos, and review materials are stored in the Math Lab for easy access to the students and conference tables form an area conducive to one-on-one or small group tutoring. Also, computers are available for students to complete Math XL homework assignments.

To familiarize students with the resources available, Mathematics faculty members take their students on a tour of the Math Lab early in each semester. This will ensure that all students are aware of the services that Louisburg College provides.

Appointments are not necessary and Math Lab services are provided without additional fees to the student. If you have questions or need more information, please visit the Math Lab on the 3rd floor of Taft Classroom building (room 312) or contact Dr. Martha Bragg at 919.497.3219.
