The Division of Mathematics and Science is dedicated to maintaining an avenue for students to seek assistance from faculty outside of office hours. In support of this, The Mathematics Laboratory (Math Lab) at Louisburg College was established and has been in operation for over twenty-five years. The Math Lab provides assistance to students who have difficulty with classroom activities, or need help with homework assignments. Tutoring can occur in a one-on-one setting, or in small groups. The Math Lab is currently staffed by the full-time members of the Mathematics department. This increases the time that a faculty member is available to the students outside of normal office hours. In addition to providing assistance with Math related assignments, there is also a Computer Assisted Remediation Center in the same Lab.
The Math Lab also provides certain extra services. Solution manuals, extra textbooks, reference material, videos, and review materials are stored in the Math Lab for easy access to the students and conference tables form an area conducive to small group tutoring.
To familiarize students with the resources available, Mathematics faculty take their students on a tour of the Math Lab/Computer Remediation Center early in the semester. This will ensure that all students are aware of the services that Louisburg College provides.
For additional information, please visit the Math Lab on the 3rd floor of Taft Classroom building, or contact Martha Bragg at 919.497.3219.
