About Louisburg stain glass window in Benson Chapel, student on computer

It is a pleasure to welcome you to our website. Louisburg College has been serving students for over 220 years, and as the oldest two-year college in the nation we are excited to be serving a new generation of students.

Louisburg College is the only two-year residential college in North Carolina. At Louisburg, students are given an opportunity to excel in the classroom, and within the campus community. Our students are a part of a learning community where faculty and staff enthusiastically offer the support they need to discover their path in life and reach their full potential.

As a college related by faith to the United Methodist Church, we believe that higher education involves the growing of the mind and the heart. We also believe that higher education is not only about finding a career, but finding one’s calling in life. The theologian Fredrick Buechner defined one’s calling as, “the place where our greatest passion meets God’s greatest need in the world.”  Each life is a promise waiting to be fulfilled, and our promise at Louisburg is to help each student discover and realize that promise.

Louisburg College is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and  has comprehensive transfer agreements with many public and private colleges and universities, including the sixteen branches of the University of North Carolina system, allowing Louisburg College graduates to make a seamless transition upon entering four-year schools as full-fledged juniors.

I hope you will visit our beautiful and historic campus in person and consider becoming a part of the Louisburg College learning community.

Sincerely,

Mark La Branche
